INTERNATIONAL CONVENTION CENTRE, SYDNEY
The transformation of Darling Harbour into one of the world’s best places to live, meet and be entertained is well underway, with one of the Australia’s largest solar arrays within a central business district is being erected onto the roof of International Convention Centre Sydney (ICC Sydney) to generate power for the new venue.
This Australian-first sustainability initiative at ICC Sydney and social venture allows people to participate in funding renewable energy. Canadian Solar, one of the most bankable solar companies worldwide and a top-3 globally leading manufacturer, has been progressing the solar system construction across the three sites for their peace-of mind turn-key solution offer featuring state-of-the-art products and innovative roof-top mounting structure.
General Manager, Darling Harbour Live, David Lovell said, “We are very proud to be delivering this Australian-first sustainability initiative at ICC Sydney. The social venture allows people to participate in funding renewable energy and is another way we can engage with the local community who have been very supportive of this important State Government project at Darling Harbour.“
“The solar array will produce enough for approximately 5 per cent of the energy required for the facilities which is equivalent to powering more than 100 homes every year.“
Construction on the 521 kWp system will be finished in December 2016. ICC Sydney expects the system with more than 2,000 Canadian Solar CS6P-260P-SD smart solar modules to generate estimated first year output of 545 MW hours of electricity enough to offset approximately 458 tons of CO2 annually.
