Poulettes Sky Pulette Fast Tract Officially Launches the Biggest Solar Project in Eastern Ontario.

The owners of Poulettes Sky Pulette, an Ontario chicken farming operation, have installed a 100 kW PV rooftop system on their buildings. Now their chicken barns generate electricity from the sun as well as house chickens. The project is a complex, leading edge solar installation that generates over 342,970 kW of power annually, cuts down farm electricity costs and benefits the environment.

It was installed by iSolara Solar Power in Ottawa, Ontario, and was completed and connected to the solar grid in May 2011. In addition, Poulettes Chick Farm has signed a 20-year contract with the OPA, and is expected to generate 342,970 kilowatt-hours in the first year of operation. The PV installation consists of 56 Canadian Solar CS6P-P 230 W polycrystalline solar modules. The panels were “Ontario Made” by Canadian Solar, one of the largest solar companies in the world. Poulettes Sky Pulett was also awarded $27,000.00 as a grant from the Community Energy Partnership (CEPP) - the third largest grant ever allocated by the OPA for solar projects.
